Renovations Proposed for Big Sugar |

07-12-2007A plan has been proposed to Pea Ridge officials to make major changes to the Big Sugar Ranch and Golf Club. Although this golf club is among one of the nicest in the state of Arkansas, club officials are hoping to get approval to convert it into a Jack Nicklaus inspired design. While the details are not yet clear of this proposal, Big Sugar Ranch and Golf Club officials feel that this change will benefit everybody involved.
At this time Big Sugar Ranch and Golf Club takes up about 500 acres located along Little Sugar Creek east of Highway 94. The proposal states that the club would like to add approximately 50 acres to the development. The land that is to be used is currently a farm and owned by a resident of the area.
Current owners of Big Sugar Ranch and Golf Club have been presented with several offers to buy by interested investors. They feel that the new proposal may be a bit far fetched, and are worried about the overall chances of success. Just a few of the concerns are stemmed from potential drainage issues, road access, and emergency vehicle access.
In addition to updates to the golf course, the proposed plan also has additions for tennis courts, a swimming pool, and a restaurant.
Although this deal is pending, the final outcome could go in either direction depending on what the current owners decide to do with the course. Things will begin to unfold over the next few months, and a decision should be in place by summer.
