Bobby Masters, the executive vice president at Ginn, notes that his company bought Burke Mountain, the 750 acre historic resort, but not the ski racing academy, Burke Mountain Academy. But a spokesman for Burke Mountain, David Gwatkin, noted that they have the right to train as well as race on Burke Mountain.
Celebrity skiers like Erik Schlopy and Bryna McCarty, members of the United States Ski Team, do for The Burke Mountain Resort what Tiger Woods does for Jupiter Island in Florida. Between Burke Mountain and Whaleback, residents of The Burke Mountain Resort will have more than enough to occupy their time, but The Ginn Company isn't satisfied. They intend to invest in the hundreds of acres that surround the Resort. Ultimately, the Ginn Company will invest more than $100 million in development of the residences and a golf course. As yet, $4 million has already been invested in The Burke Mountain Resort upgrades with an additional $5 million invested in improvements in the quad and base lodge. There's nothing but excitement in the works when The Ginn Company is the master behind the plan.
