Isleworth, the well known gated golf community in Orlando, Florida, was named the third top golf community in the United States by Travel + Leisure Golf magazine in January of this year. The only other golf community in Florida to rank in the top ten was The Bear's Club, also a private gated golf community, in Jupiter, Florida.
The Lake Nona golf community landed the Number 15 spot thanks to its on site celebrities and gorgeous golf course designed by Tom Fazio, as well as its relaxing boating and lake fishing. Central Florida was only represented again in the entire Top 100 list by Bay Hill. The number one spot was given to the Santa Lucia Preserve in Carmel, California.
This Top 100 list is an exclusive annual listing and bodes well for all the golf communities that grace its ranks. Only those private communities that offer sophistication, class, and a sense of escape from the outside world are even considered. These communities draw locals to their courses, celebrities, and investors looking for a second home and retirement community that will transcend all others. The entire lifestyle of the community, housing, amenities, activities available, and locale were included in the calculations in addition to the experience on the course.
Though Isleworth is well known for the celebrities who inhabit it, and Number 2, The Bear's Club, boast the likes of 29 year old Tiger Woods, it was not celebrities alone that landed these two communities in the top spots. It was the "little things" that impressed American Express Publishing Corporation's sister publication to Travel + Leisure, things like decadent holiday turkeys prepared by the club's top notch chef and a $25 million sculpture and exhibit created by none other than the famed Sotheby and proudly displayed on their golf course and landscaped recently.
