Jefferson Landing, long thought of as a premiere golf community, has been recognized for its unparalleled amenities, activities and scenary. In Travel + Leisure Golf's January/ February 2006 issue, Jefferson's Landing was named one of 'America's Top 100 Golf Communities. Only three North Carolina private, golf communities made this Top 100 list - including Wade Hampton and Bald Head Island as well as Jefferson Landing - but of these, Jefferson Landing is by far the most accessible.
Jefferson Landing consists of 480 acres between the New River and Mount Jefferson State Park in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. This private, gated community boasts a Golf Digest 4.5-star course designed by Larry Nelson, a U.S. Open and 2- time PGA champion; a two story clubhouse and a fine dining restaurant.
In the beginning of 2005, the president of Jefferson Landing LLC, Ed Rodgers, first purchased the Jefferson Landing Club as well as the undeveloped real estate around it. With his experience as a member of PGA of America for 25 years and vice president and general manager of well renowned Bonita Bay in Bonita Springs, Florida, Rodgers hopes to bring a great many changes to Jefferson Landing and create a true upscale living experience. Some of these changes include:
* A private living experience for residents (property owners, renters, and club members only in community)
* Year round dining in the clubhouse
* Offering the purchase of lodge rooms as condos
* Much improved golf course maintenance
* More upgrades planned
With these plans in mind, Jefferson Landing is off to a great start. In 2005, it had the best sales in 15 years when it sold more than $11 million in real estate. Sites for homes range anywhere from $50,000 to $200,000+. Townhouses, condominiums, and single family homes run between $160,000 and $2 million.
