Golf communities used to be associated with the wealthy, and those that could afford luxurious second homes. As times change and there are more options available to people with all income levels, golf course communities are increasingly affordable for a whole range of people.
Stone Links, a golf community east of North Little Rock is one such community that offers anyone from first time homebuyers to those looking for a second home a great place to enjoy golf and a great lifestyle.
Golf communities aren’t just for golfers anymore, many people move into these private communities for the laidback feel. It’s known that about four million Americans live in a golf course community, yet not even half of those people golf on the beautiful fairways that are in the fronts and backs of their homes!
Because so many people don’t golf when they live in these communities, they have to be more affordable so that the communities can stay afloat financially. Stone Links has changed the way they market so that they can attract golfers and non-golfers to their private community.
Stone Links changed their approach to the golf community in 2003, when they realized that huge homes at exorbitant prices are hard to fill. They knew they had to do something different, and that was appealing to first time buyers. The smaller, cheaper homes generated a lot more interest in Stone Links than the one million dollar homes did, just because there are more people that can afford the smaller homes.
With an average home price around $175,000, it’s easy to see how Stone Links reinvented themselves. Stone Links has attracted retired people, single parents, business oriented individuals, and more. There is no stereotypical resident in the first phase of homes that were built.
With over 100 current members, less than 20% take advantage of the golf course, which just goes to show that many golf communities have to reinvent themselves to attract enough residents to fill the land, the homes, and help keep the communities afloat financially.
