New Course Getting Set for the Midlands

The University of South Carolina golf coach and one of his former players are planning on designing a new golf course in the Midlands area of South Carolina. This will be the first new course in the area in nearly 10 years.
The new project is going to take place at the Hidden Valley Country Club which is going to get a complete overhaul to say the least. This club is located near Gaston, and is quite popular in the area. But it is safe to say that once the $1. 5 million renovation is complete that this club will gain even more popularity both by in state visitors, as well as out of state enthusiasts.
Although details are not yet ironed out, the final plans are supposed to be completed by the end of March 2007. From there, renovations will begin as soon as developers.....  Full Story

Renovations Proposed for Big Sugar

A plan has been proposed to Pea Ridge officials to make major changes to the Big Sugar Ranch and Golf Club. Although this golf club is among one of the nicest in the state of Arkansas, club officials are hoping to get approval to convert it into a Jack Nicklaus inspired design. While the details are not yet clear of this proposal, Big Sugar Ranch and Golf Club officials feel that this change will benefit everybody involved.
At this time Big Sugar Ranch and Golf Club takes up about 500 acres located along Little Sugar Creek east of Highway 94. The proposal states that the club would like to add approximately 50 acres to the development. The land that is to be used is currently a farm and owned by a resident of the area.

The Toughest Course in the Country

There are thousands of golf courses in the United States, and many that are considered to be quite difficult. But each year Golf Digest Magazine chooses the one that is the most difficult in the country. This year, the award goes to Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Ocean Course. Anybody who has ever played at this course knows just how difficult it can be. This holds true for everybody from beginners to professionals.
The Ocean Course was designed by Pete Dye, and opened for business in 1991. Since then this course has been causing fits for golfers from all over the world. According to the United States Golf Association this course has the highest rating in the country at 79.6, as well as the highest slope at 155.

The Abaco Club on Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas is one of the nicest in the area. Although this upscale golf course
retreat is for members only, visitors can stop by on a “one time basis” to get a feel for what is available. From there, if
you want to return to the Abaco Club you must become a full fledged member.
The Abaco Club is a 500 plus acre resort that is located only 170 miles to the east of Florida. This makes it easily
accessible to the thousands of American golfers who are interested in visiting this course on a regular basis.
The resort opened for business in December 2004 after only two years of construction. It was remarkable that the club was
